Camping and Caravanning in Somerset

There are a great number of sites providing camping and caravanning in Somerset. Most cater for motor homes, touring caravans and tents. Electric hook ups are generally available if required. Most sites have a good range of facilities, including laundry facilities, a site shop, children's play area etc. Some of the larger sites have swimming pools and onsite retaurants and bars, such as Bucklegrove Holiday Park and Campsite near Cheddar.

If you really want to get away from it all and do not mind roughing it, many farms offer basic camping facilities in the summer months.

Camping and caravanning in Somerset is very popular. During the school summer holidays and at weekends, it is essential to pre-book if you are planning a trip at this time. You may want to think about the campsite's proximity to towns or attractions you are interested in visiting, or whether you want to stay close to a beach.

Most caravan and campsites welcome families with children. Many also accept dogs provided they are kept on a lead. One such site is Halse Farm situated in the heart of Exmoor National Park, close to the famous Tarr Steps, a four star rated campsite.

For those who prefer a camping holiday without children The Old Oaks touring Park near Glastonbury is ideal. Five star rated, its location in the centre of Somerset make it very convenient for visiting most of the county's main attractions.

Whatever your needs you will be sure to enjoy camping and caravanning in Somerset.
