A Drawing DaySaturday 15th March 2008
Lizzie Cox and Julian Fraser are professional artists and university lecturers and have exhibited at major galleries throughout Britain and abroad. They both have a wide experience of teaching at their studios in Somerset.
The drawing day MasterClass will be beneficial to absolute beginners as well as experienced artists.
You will explore the basic ideas of drawing through short exercises, working from a simple ‘still-life’. The aim is to discover individual potential, and to build confidence in putting down visual ideas on paper.
You will develop these ideas, working from the landscape surveyed from the amazing vantage point of the Castle Penthouse and its charming roof garden.
The day will commence at 9.30am and concludes at approximately 4.30pm.
£119.00 per person includes the tuition with coffee on arrival, a light lunch and a Somerset cream tea.
£220.00 per person includes all of the above, overnight accommodation and English breakfast.
Description
An oasis of tranquility set in the bustling market town of Taunton, The Castle Hotel offers an unrivalled opportunity for exploring the finest landscapes in Somerset, Devon and Dorset. The Castle has been run by the Chapman family for 60 years and was the platform from which Kit Chapman launched his Great British food revival more than 25 years ago.His mission was aided by the likes of former head chefs Gary Rhodes and Phil Vickery, now succeeded by Richard Guest, whose abilities have seen The Castle’s restaurant regularly named among the top 30 outside London. The cooking here depends heavily on local ingredients (suppliers are listed on the menu) sourced from what has become Europe’s foremost speciality food-producing region.
Its reputation for fine food and wine, its luxuriously-appointed rooms and its outstanding standards of service make The Castle one of the West Country’s great landmarks.
Laurels in the Good Food, RAC and AA Guides also testify the excellence of its hospitality.
